Sam Stage is a fiddler, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist based in Nashville, TN. With an ever-evolving style steeped thoroughly in both bluegrass and jazz, Sam aims to bring fresh ideas to the acoustic landscape, placing creativity, joy, and devotion to his instrument at the center of his sound.
Winner of the 2022 FreshGrass Fiddle Award, the 2021 RockyGrass Fiddle Competition, and a 2-time IBMA nominee, Sam has toured extensively both nationally and internationally. From Hong Kong to the Grand Ole Opry, he has performed with bands including Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder, Tony Trischka’s Earl Jam, Nefesh Mountain, the Tray Wellington Band, Mountain Grass Unit, the Foreign Landers, Farayi Malek, Gentlemen’s Gambit, and many others. Equally sought after as a session player, Sam has appeared on records produced by the likes of Alison Brown and Jim Van Cleve, at home both spending a day in the studio and recording fiddle remotely. Always grateful for the chance to learn, Sam is a 2026 graduate of the esteemed Berklee College of Music in Boston, where he was fortunate to learn from fiddle greats like Matt Glaser, Sara Caswell, Bruce Molsky, Jason Annick, and Brittany Haas on a full scholarship.
